When Luc Psychologie May Not Be the Right Fit
Luc Psychologie operates under the BGGZ framework. This means that issues requiring long-term treatment or the involvement of multiple mental health disciplines are better treated within the SGGZ system.
This may apply if:
– Immediate or crisis care is needed
– There are multiple complex, interacting issues
– Previous treatments have not been effective
Cases where this is essential are better suited to a different type of care. I try to determine this as early as the initial registration, but at the very least during the intake.
There is no in-house psychiatrist or crisis service available.
Treatment is not available for individuals under 18.
Difference Between BGGZ and SGGZ
Mental health care (GGZ) is divided into Generalist Basic Mental Health Care (BGGZ) for mild to moderate, short-term mental health issues, and Specialist Mental Health Care (SGGZ) for severe, complex, or chronic conditions. BGGZ is typically short-term and focused on recovery, while SGGZ is often longer-term and involves a multidisciplinary approach.
A referral from a primary care physician is required for both.
